Air Jordan 4 (IV’s)
The Air Jordan IV (4) was released in 1989. This celebrated Michael Jordan’s winning by way of his confident and dominating way resulting in a stream of numerous honors and awards.
The design, by Mr. Tinker Hatfield, retained the air bubble and the mid-cut feel based from its predecessor, the Jordan III (3). It was around this time when the Air Jordan shoes had become totally popular and quickly sold out everytime they dropped.
The Spike Lee Connection
When it comes to the IV’s, commercials with them continued with Mars Blackmon (Spike Lee) with the Can/Can’t tv commercial. Spike Lee really loved these kicks and gave them some extra promotion in his movie Do The Right Thing.
A classic scene for all AJ fans is when a guy in the movie runs over his white Air Jordan IV (4)‘s, scuffs ‘em up real bad, he then freaks out and proceeds to clean it up with a toothbrush. Check out the movie, it’s quite a scene that we sneakerheads can really relate to.
Rumored to drop sometime in 2012, one can only expect the best and line up for them once they drop! An iconic pair that will match just about anything!
