Creative Council : An Initiative.
The creative industry is the one of the Philippnes’ most self-sustaining industries. Its growth potential is high and is definitely becoming a household name among business-minded people. In 2005, creative industries contributed some 4.9% (USD 4.8B) to the gross domestic product and accounted for 11.10% (3.98M) of the country’s labor force for the same period. These facts have encouraged us to pool in our resources to propose an assembly of a Government-sponsored Creative Council. In this case, we are aiming for DTI’s approval.
Our neighboring Asian countries have already built their creative-specific councils. If this does materialize, the possibilities are endless. Neighboring countries like Indonesia and Singapore have taken the initiative to create their own government-supported councils, which have helped them grow the creative indusry more as well as bring it up there with other mainstream-accepted fields. Not to mention a series of possible collaborations to help the country’s economic growth and image-building as well. We are optimistic that this can happen really soon.
